What Is FUPA?
Oh the dreaded FUPA so many are talking about. If you have excess belly fat from nursing an injury or pregnancy it can be a bit of a pain to get rid of. “Fupa” is a well known slang term for the weight “flap” that hangs over your jeans or pants. The exact definition is ‘Fat Upper Pubic Area’. You do not win an award for claiming a great FUPA. There are a select few who will turn it into a joke and try and make a positive about it, but the fact of the matter is that it is a sign for the possibility of diabetes, higher risk of heart disease, and possible even cancer. Not pretty things to think, but coincide they do. If you have a case of FUPA due to a recent birth, check out our other post on How To Lose FUPA After Pregnancy
So tell me the good Bruce
Well, the good news is that it is possible to get rid of FUPA without surgery. Now in proceeding to rid your FUPA, keep in mind that even though you have fat in that region it, it may take you longer to lose it before your hips, arms or thighs. Things don’t always go 100% to plan. Scary I know but honest. That being said, if you are serious about getting rid of that unwanted weight without surgery, then you will be able to do it by being patient and consistent with a change of diet and a great workout program like (The Venus Factor) that we also have a full review about.
Why does it go to the belly?
Your body makes it’s own decisions when it comes to where it stores it’s excess fat. Most of this is based on genetics. If only we could pinpoint where it all goes. Men tend to gain fat in and around the belly as well as post-menopausal women. Other women tend to gain it in the hips, thighs and butt, but we will cover that in another post. If you gain fat anywhere else, it will mainly be due to a high calorie intake and high sugar foods. Ideally we all need to cut down on the sugar and not over eat when it come to rich foods and processed foods. Some people can get away with it due to being highly active and burning lots of calories in a day, but this doesn’t necessarily make them healthy just because they don’t have FUPA.
Tell me what to do!
It feels like the key to life. There is more than one way to skin a cat as they say, but here is what I would recommend you do to get rid of FUPA without surgery.
- Lower your calories! Sounds simple right
- Drink water before every meal. This will help achieve a fuller stomach so you won’t eat as much.
- Cut down on sugar and rich foods! I’m not saying cut it out, just down.
- Add more live foods such as veggies. Preferably raw of steamed to keep the nutrients in.
- Be sure to exercise in some way everyday. I don’t mean the gym everyday, but at least walk around the block. 15 minutes minimum.
These are just a few good pointers to help get you started. Like I had mentioned earlier, if you would like to have a guide on how to walk through the process, The Venus Factor Plan does a great job or if you like speed and don’t mind working hard, you can definitely give the 3 week diet a shot although I have never seen it attempted to specifically lose FUPA. I would love to see that you are the first and leave a review here!
Here is a helpful video for a few extra exercises if you choose to go it alone:
Recap and overview
There is no need to consider surgery as a first option. This is a costly method and may temporarily fix the issue, but long term is not sustainable unless you implement the other aspects that we have covered. If you don’t learn how to eat a proper diet and exercise, then you will so be right back to where you started. So my challenge to you is to nip it in the bud right now! You will be very glad that you did and you will save a ton of money doing so.
As always, please leave your thoughts and experiences below! Namaste
